The secret is out... I'm pregnant! Not only am I pregnant but I'm almost 22 weeks so we have found out what we are having and it's a girl! We've tried to keep it a secret because we are trying to be creative with the announcement out our pregnancies but it's getting to feel like "oh I'm pregnant, again-just add 'give birth' to the list of things I need to do in the future". So we waited till April Fool's Day to announce it hoping that would be a fun way to go about it. I think it worked for a minute or two. If anything confused family and then they didn't know what to believe but one look at me and I'm sure there would be no doubt. I feel like I've been showing since week 9. Maybe my body is just getting used to being pregnant and started moving everything around early or something. I think I'm finally getting past the sickness stage to where throwing up is more of a burden than part of my daily activities and I'm happy to take on that burden if it's not happening once, twice, three times everyday. So I'm officially due on August 9th and for anyone out there who knows what 4th year med school entails you will feel entirely sorry for me and I will whole-heartedly accept your condolences. However, things have really been falling into place for us and it makes me feel even more excited about this pregnancy knowing that it is really meant to be. So Christian's fourth year consists of out and audition rotations. Most students begin/leave home July 1st and get back sometime in October. Basically they jump around each month at different hospitals across the country hoping to impress them so to gain a residency position when we go to apply. So as you can see I'm due right in the middle of that. Well we began setting things up and it turns out if you do anesthesia you can get away with only doing two weeks at some hospitals vs. four weeks so that shortens our audition rotations by a lot. Christian managed to get two audition rotations in Ohio to do just two weeks each so he'll be there for the month of July then he had one for August but they told him it would be better to come in October (relief). Which means he'll do just a normal rotation at home during the month of August! But then he will be gone to Oklahoma for the month of September. He'll also do some auditions during October but we've lucked out to have a anesthesia residency spot only an hour away so he'll be able to still be 'home' sort of for October :) All in all Christian should be home for the birth and possibly the next few weeks and we couldn't ask for anything better. We are super excited to have this little girl join our family!
